What happens next?
If there is a successful outcome to the consultations in Barnton Park, Bingham, Parkgrove and the Mill Lane Area, the traffic calming measures will be constructed by March 2008. Prior to construction, adverts will appear in the local press and notices will be posted on lamp columns throughout each area.
In addition to the physical works, the Council require to promote a Traffic Regulation Order to formally make the roads in the zones subject to a 20mph speed limit. Should the traffic calming go ahead in these areas it is anticipated that these Orders will be advertised in the Summer of 2008 and formal objections will be invited at that stage. Should the Council decide not to proceed with the formal change to the speed limit an alternative sign would be used at entry points to the traffic calmed zones rather than the regulatory 20mph roundel signs.
